Supernumerary seats for females in JoSAA 2018
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2018 regulates the joint seat allocation for admissions to 100 institutes for the academic year 2018-19. This includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 23 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admission to all the academic programs offered by these Institutes will be made through a single platform by JOSAA.
JoSAA has announced that registrations for 2018 online counselling will start from June 15, 2018, onwards.
All the candidates who appeared for JEE (Main) 2018 / JEE (Advanced) 2018 should take note of the following-
JoSAA has announced that registrations for 2018 online counselling will start from June 15, 2018, onwards.
· All candidates who have appeared in JEE (Main) 2018 are eligible to register for seat allocation in NIT+ system (except IITs).
· All candidates who have declared qualified in JEE (Adv) 2018 are eligible to register for seat allocation in all participating Institutes.
Only above two categories of students will be able to register for JoSAA counselling 2018.

Step 1 – Registration
The first step of JoSAA counseling 2018 is registration and choice. The registration process will be open tentatively from the second week of June 2018-
· The candidates will have to log in using their JEE Main 2018 roll number and password. If the candidates have qualified JEE Advanced examination, then they will have to enter their JEE Advanced 2018 roll number and password. Details about the candidates will not have to be submitted as all of the information will be retrieved from JEE Main 2018 registration process.
· The candidates will be able to modify their contact details.
Note-It is compulsory for the candidates to change their password during registration.
Step 2 – Filling and Locking of Choices
Candidates may fill-in their choices of Institutes and branches in decreasing order of their preference. Candidates are strongly urged to fill-in as many choices of their interest as possible. Candidates MUST “lock” their choices. For candidates who do NOT lock their choices, their last saved choices will be locked automatically when the time-window for filling-in of choices close.
Step 3 – Seat Allotment and Rank List Announcement
JoSAA will conduct seven rounds that are 1st through 7th rounds of seat allocation for academic programs offered by Institutes under JoSAA 2018.
Step 4 – Availability of Allotment Letter and Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee
Candidates allotted a seat must pay the seat acceptance fee (through SBI e-Challan/SBI NetBanking/SBI debit cards) and get the documents verified at any reporting center (josaa.nic.in) for provisional seat acceptance.
Note -.
· A candidate is required to fill option for ‘freeze’, ‘slide’ or ‘float’ the choice of academic program.
· If in a subsequent round, a candidate’s allotment from NIT+ system changes to an IIT, the candidate MUST report ONCE AGAIN at an IIT reporting centre, similarly if a candidate’s allotment from IIT changes to a NIT+ system, the candidate MUST report ONCE AGAIN at any NIT+ reporting centre, failure to do so will result in forfeiture of seats allocated in both NIT+ system and IIT.
Step 5 – Reporting at Reporting Centre
All of those candidates who have been allotted seats have to report at their designated reporting centres for verification of documents. All of the required original documents have to be produced by the candidates in the reporting centres. If the candidates do not attend or qualify the document verification process, then their admission may get canceled. The candidates should remember that those who are allotted into NIT, IIEST, IIIT or other GFTIs will have to report only at the reporting centres of the same.
List of Documents Required for Verification
The candidates will have to report at their designated reporting centre with the following original documents along with a set of photocopies which will be retained by the admission committee. The original documents will be returned to the candidates.
For IITs-
· Two Passport Size Photographs identical to the one uploaded during JEE Advanced 2018 registration
· Provisional Seat Allotment Letter
· Undertaking by the Candidate
· Proof of Seat Acceptance Fee Payment by e-challan or net banking of SBI (Rs. 15, 000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates and Rs. 35,000 for others)
· Valid Photo Identity Card
· Admit Card of JEE Advanced 2018
· Date of Birth Proof (10th Standard Mark Sheet)
· 12th Standard (or equivalent) Mark Sheet and Pass Certificate
· Medical Certificate
· Category Certificate (if applicable)
· Certificate for PwD (if applicable)
· Passport (for foreign nationals) of candidates & parents or OCI Certificate or PIO Card (if applicable)
· DS Certificate (if applicable)
· Registration cum Locked Choices for Seat Allotment

Step 6 - Reporting at Allotted Institutes-
In the final step, the allotted candidates who successfully complete their document verification process will have to report at their allotted institute to confirm their admission. The print out of the final locked choices will have to be submitted while reporting. The remaining balance fees also have to be paid by the candidates.

In total there are 100 institutions which are participating in JoSAA 2018 counselling.
BUSINESS RULES for JOINT SEAT ALLOCATION for the ACADEMIC PROGRAMS offered by the IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs and Other-GFTIs for the academic year 2018-19
Important:
ü Withdrawal- A candidate, who has already accepted a seat, can withdraw the seat by reporting at a reporting center up to the sixth round of seat allocation.
ü Registration – Candidates who do NOT register within the specified time window WILL NOT be able to seek admission for this academic year.
ü Filling-in of choices – Candidates who do NOT fill-in choices within the specified time window WILL NOT be able to seek admission for this academic year
ü Dual Reporting: Two times reporting required in case of seat allotment changes from NIT+s system to IITs and vice versa.
ü No modification of locked choices – once locked, choices CANNOT be modified.
